This study studies slow travel as a digital detox method, particularly for Vietnamese generation Z, who are continuously exposed to and depend heavily on digital devices. Slow travel could assist the younger generation disconnect from a life focused solely on technological devices and connect deeper with the world around them and culture. The research was done to address the question "What makes Generation Z Vietnam prefer "Slow Tourism" for a digital detox purpose?" as well as a few sub-questions. There have been previous research articles and hypotheses about slow tour- ism. Theories are implemented to assist young people understand the concept of slow travel and its advantages in terms of digital detox.
Quantitative research methods were utilized to collect and analyses data from a survey assessing young people's awareness of and participation in slow tourism. From there, research findings re- veal that Vietnamese young choose slow travel as a digital detox method. Vietnamese Generation Z demonstrated a high preference for slowly travel activities as a method for escaping the pres- sures of technology. Slow travel offers multiple benefits, including improved mental health, more social connections, and encouragement of sustainable lifestyles. As a case study, the developers look at Northern Vietnam, which has an extensive heritage of culture and landscapes that are suit- able for steady tourist development.
The study also identifies limits and proposes research suggestions on slow tourism and other unique elements in Northern Vietnam. The limits provided by the researcher enable the identifica- tion of appropriate forms of future study subjects, and tourism agencies develop slow tourism products that correspond to the trends and desires of Gen Z Vietnamese customers.
