Tiivistelmä
This thesis is about developing a project management tool for an engineering company, the Vahanen group. The Vahanen group has operated in the property management service business for over 50 years and the company is now based in Espoo. The Vahanen group uses project management software called ValueFrame.
The research objectives were to assess the current situation regarding project management within the company, to study any existing tools used, or not used, by the project managers, and to determine what is perceived to be the most important information that relates to projects. The research was conducted through personal interviews with employees of the Vahanen group.
The interviews revealed that the most important information concerned the duration and cost of the project, including expenses, and the participants of the project. The interviews also revealed some unnecessary sections of project management within the lifecycle of a project. Based on the results of the interviews, an example of what information the project manager page of the software should contain was created.
