Tiivistelmä
There are challenges faced in Valmet Automotive, where the accurate tracking of packages is often hindered. The current lack of a digital platform to track the quantity and location of packages hinder the accuracy of the packaging system. Thus, the objective of the research is to recommend the implementation of an automatic tracking system using RFID technology.
The research methodology employed in this study involves a comprehensive literature review, drawing from academic journals, case studies, information systems, and production economics sources. RFID offers the ability to track packages without line-of-sight requirements, read multiple tags simultaneously, withstand harsh environments, provide specific item information, and enable real-time updates. These advantages can enhance operational efficiency, reduce manual errors, and streamline the supply chain. However, RFID implementation entails initial costs, potential privacy concerns, and challenges related to interference and compatibility.
In conclusion, this thesis provides an in-depth analysis of RFID technology's potential benefits and challenges. It recommends RFID adoption as a means to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and supply chain visibility, with careful consideration of costs and privacy concerns. The study emphasizes that with proper planning and implementation, RFID technology can significantly improve operational performance in Valmet Automotive and similar industries.
