Tiivistelmä
Suomessa asuu noin 6000–7000 henkilöä, joilla on diagnoosina cp-vamma. Cp-vamman diagnoosin saa vuosittain noin 100–120 vastasyntynyttä lasta. Yleisimpänä kuntoutusmuotona Suomessa on Kelan järjestämä fysioterapia. Opinnäytetyön yhteistyökumppani on Suomen CP-liiton Voimavarana perhe -hanke.
Oppaan koekäyttö koettiin tarpeelliseksi, jotta perheet saivat vaikuttaa lopulliseen tuotokseen.
Opinnäytetyön tuotoksena laadittu opas on perheille helposti hyödynnettävä tapa harjoittaa tunnesäätely- ja kehonhahmotustaitoja. Perheet kokivat, että harjoitteille on tarvetta. Opinnäytetyössä laadittua opasta voivat hyödyntää terveydenhuollon ammattihenkilöstö, etenkin fysioterapeutit. Opas on tehty yleisesti perheille, joissa 9–15-vuotiaalla lapsella on cp-vamma, joten sitä on mahdollista jakaa muille perheille laajempaan käyttöön. Tulevaisuudessa tarvitaan tietoa harjoittelujaksolla tehtyjen oppaan sisällön mukaisten harjoitteiden vaikuttavuudesta lasten, joilla on cp-vamma, tunnesäätely- ja kehonhahmotustaitoihin. In Finland lives about 6000-7000 people who have been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Approximately 100-120 newborn children are diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The most common form of rehabilitation in Finland is physiotherapy organized by Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland. In addition to physical disabilities, children with cerebral palsy may have social and psychological challenges. The psychological challenges can be for example challenge in emotional regulation and body perception. The Finnish CP Association’s Voimavarana perhe -project is the partner of this thesis.
The topic of the thesis is to create a guide to emotional regulation and body perception exercises for families with a 9-15-year-old child with cerebral palsy. The purpose is to make everyday life easier for families by practicing children’s emotional regulation and body perception skills. The data collection methods used include a literature review, the preparation of exercises and a guide, testing the guide and editing it into the final version. Three families participated in the making of thesis.
The families who tried the guide felt that there are challenges especially in emotional regulation and body perception skills. Challenges appeared in recognizing, expressing, and controlling emotions. Body perception challenges appeared in visualizing the outlines of the body and identifying the limits of ability. The trial run of the guide was found to be necessary so that families could influence the final output.
The guide prepared as a product in the thesis is an easy-to-use way for families to practice emotion regulation and body perception skills. The families felt that there is a need for the exercises. The guide can be used by healthcare professionals, especially physiotherapists. The guide is generally made for families with a 9-15-year-old child with cerebral palsy, so it is possible to distribute it to other families for wider use. In the future, information is needed on the effectiveness of the exercises according to content of the guide during the training period on the emotional regulation and body perception skills of the children with cerebral palsy.
