Tiivistelmä
Aim of this project was to study segment routing as a technology and compare it to its predecessors, as well as configuring a segment routing environment with a virtualized demonstration environment. This included personally creating the said environment.
Virtual demonstration consisted of GNS3 as a network software emulator software, with VirtualBox hypervisor installed on my personal PC. This included GNS3 VM inside the VirtualBox and as the routing devices, Cisco IOS-XRv and CSR1000v virtual routers were used.
Inside the virtual environment a topology of five routers was built. Using this topology segment routing was configured on the devices in four parts. With the main points explained in sub-heading titles and device configurations provided to the reader.
Results of the project showcased the simplicity of segment routing and highlighted the possible compatibility issues when using multiple different components for virtualized testing environment.
