Tiivistelmä
Ikääntyvän väestön kasvavan määrän myötä palliatiivisen hoidon ja saattohoidon tarve lisääntyy jatkuvasti. Saattohoito on elämän loppuvaiheeseen ajoittuvaa potilaan kokonaisvaltaisia hoitotyötä. Laadukkaan ja yksilöllisen saattohoidon toteutus vaatii osaamista ja resursseja hoitohenkilökunnalta. Aiheena saattohoito on ajankohtainen ja sitä ohjaavia suosituksia on paljon. Uusia suosituksia ja ohjeita kehitetään saattohoidon laadun parantamiseksi.
Saattohoitopotilailla on monenlaisia fyysisiä ja psyykkisiä oireita. Yleisimpiä oireita ovat kipu, limaisuus, yskä, pahoinvointi, ummetus, ripuli, erilaiset suun oireet, uupumus, laihtuminen, kuivuminen, ahdistuneisuus ja masennus. Yksilöllinen ja oireenmukainen onkin tärkeä osa saattohoitoa.
Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on tuottaa laadukas ja kattava saattohoito-opas Juvan jaksohoito-osastolle. Tavoitteena on tarjota Juvan jaksohoito-osaston henkilökunnalle paremmat valmiudet kokonaisvaltaiseen saattohoitopotilaan hoitotyöhön. Tämän myötä tavoitteena on myös parantaa saattohoitopotilaan hoitoa. Opasta voidaan tarvittaessa käyttää osaamisen tukena, sekä perehdytys- että koulutuskäyttöön. Opinnäytetyön tutkimuskysymykset ovat: Millaista on hyvä saattohoito? Millainen opaslehtinen auttaa ja tukee hoitotyöntekijää toteuttamaan hyvää ja laadukasta saattohoitoa.
Opinnäytetyön teoreettisessa viitekehyksessä hyödynnetään alan kirjallisuutta, käypähoito -suosituksia sekä palliatiivisen hoidon ja saattohoidon suosituksia. Teoriaosuudessa käydään läpi kokonaisvaltaisesti palliatiivisen- ja saattohoitopotilaan hoitoa.
Opinnäytetyön tuloksena syntyi saattohoito-opas, joka on tarkoitettu Juvan jaksohoito-osaston hoitohenkilökunnan käyttöön. Opas toimitetaan toimeksiantajalle sähköisessä muodossa, jolloin oppaan muokkaaminen tarpeiden mukaisesti on helppoa. With the growing number of aging population, the need for palliative care and terminal care is constantly increasing. Terminal care is comprehensive patient care time at the end of a lifetime. The implementation of quality and individual terminal care requires knowledge and resources from the nursing staff. As a subject, terminal care is topical and there are many recommendations to guide it. New recommendations and guidelines are being developed to improve the quality of terminal care.
Terminal care patients have a wide range of physical and mental symptoms. The most common symptoms are pain, mucus, cough, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, various oral symptoms, exhaustion, weight loss, dehydration, anxiety and depression. Individual and symptomatic is an important part of terminal care.
The purpose of the thesis is to produce a quality and comprehensive terminal care guide for Juva’s periodic care ward. The goal is to provide better preparation for comprehensive nursing care for terminal care patient for Juvas periodic care staff. With this, the goal is also to improve the care of the terminal care patients. The result of the thesis can be used to support competence as well as for orientation and educational use if necessary. The research questions of the thesis are: what is good hospice care like and what kind of guide leaflet helps and supports the nursing employee to implement good and quality terminal care.
The theoretical framework of the thesis utilizes the literature in the field, recommendations for current care guidelines and palliative care and terminal care recommendations. The theoretical parts contains comprehensively palliative care and care of a terminal care patient.
As a result of the thesis, a terminal care guide was created which is meant for the use of the nursing staff at Juvas periodic care department. The guide will be delivered to commissioner in online form, when customizing the guide to yours need is easy.
