Soveltavassa osuudessa keskitytään Arnold for 3ds Max:n valojen esittelyyn, painopisteenä kuitenkin piste-, spotti- ja nelivalojen ominaisuudet. Ominaisuuksien esittelyn jälkeen valaistaan yksi valmiiksi mallinnettu sisätila käyttäen aikaisemmin esiteltyjä valoja ja Standard Surface -materiaaleja. Lopuksi vielä otetaan korkealaatuinen renderöinti valmiista sisätilasta. The goal of this project was to present the properties of the lights and materials, especially the Standard Surface material that come with Arnold for 3ds Max, focusing on interior lighting. Different types of Arnold lighting models as well as surface materials are showcased in the thesis that are then utilized for lighting a pre-modeled interior.
The theory part of the thesis introduces the concepts of 3D rendering, physically based rendering (PBR) and how Arnold Renderer uses these to its advantage. In addition, the thesis discusses the laws of reflection and refraction of light and how Arnold Renderer uses these scientific laws in its method of rendering lights.
The practical part of the thesis focuses on the presentation of Arnold for 3ds Max lights, with a special focus on the properties of Point, Spot and Quad lights. After going through the properties of the lights, one pre-modeled interior is illuminated using the lights and materials presented earlier. Finally, a high-quality rendering of the finished interior is presented.
