The purpose of the thesis was to develop an event concept related to Nordea's corporate social responsibility project. The concept to be developed was the Oman talouden eväät schoolday, which is one of Nordea's many corporate social responsibility projects. The concept was transformed into a suitable event for an office environment. The objective of the thesis was to pilot and collect experiences from the Oman talouden eväät event in an office environment.
The Oman talouden eväät event was piloted at Nordea's Myyrmäki branch office in March 2020 two times. The event was attended by 6th grade students and their teachers from the Uomarinne school. A total of 38 students and two teachers attended the events. The events included two different workshops for students on their own finances, saving and entrepreneurship.
Observation and questionnaire were used as data collection methods in the event pilots. Participant observation was chosen as the observation method. In participant observation, it was possible for the author to interact with the people observed. Targeted observation was also used for observation. Targeted observation allowed the observation to focus on pre-defined issues. An observation form was made as an aid, in which the observer recorded the observations made at the event. The purpose of the feedback surveys was to map the participants' opinions about the event and about the workshops organized at the event. Based on the results of the observations and surveys, the event concept can be utilized in Nordea's offices in the future.
The theoretical framework consists of corporate social responsibility, as well as piloting and event organizing. Corporate social responsibility is an essential part of the event concept to be developed, which is why the thesis covers with corporate social responsibility in the theoretical section in addition to organizing and piloting an event.
