Tiivistelmä
The thesis explored the impact of seasonal variation on visitor numbers in tourism industry, focusing on the Finnish Air Force Museum as a case study. Through a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative and quantitative research methods, the research aimed to identify factors influencing seasonal variation and develop strategies to attract visitors year-round.
The theoretical framework provided a conceptual basis, linking research question to established theories in visitor attraction management, tourism seasonality, and marketing communications. The foundation guided the direction and methodological choices of the research, ensuring relevance and significance. Data was collected through a quantitative survey and qualitative interview with a museum representative.
By understanding visitor behaviour and preferences, the Finnish Air Force Museum can optimize resource allocation, marketing efforts, and visitor experience, ultimately increasing satisfaction and revenue. The data analysis aimed to provide insights applicable not only to the Finnish Air Force Museum but also similar organizations facing similar challenges.
This research offers valuable insights for operational planning and long-term strategy at the Finnish Air Force Museum and serves as a potential model for other organizations grappling with seasonal fluctuations in visitor numbers. Through a comprehensive approach combining theory and empirical research, the thesis provides actionable recommendations to address the challenges posed by seasonality in tourism.
