Tiivistelmä
This bachelor’s thesis investigates the competitive landscape and operational strategies of three Finnish financial service outsourcing providers, focusing on their financial performance, service offerings, and sustainability practices. The study was conducted to assist a commissioning company in evaluating its position and strategic options within the market. The commissioning company has a department devoted to providing these financial administration services to customers, which is why they wanted to get insights on the overall situation in the market and whether it is worth it to continue to grow in this business sector.
The thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. Initially, a comprehensive review of relevant literature and theories on outsourcing, financial administration, and sustainability was undertaken. Subsequently, empirical research was carried out, analysing key financial metrics, comparing service portfolios, and assessing the sustainability initiatives of three major service providers.
The results indicate varied financial performances among the providers, with some showing strong revenue growth while others lag behind the industry average in some metrics. Analysis of service offerings revealed opportunities for the commissioning company to enhance or streamline its services to better compete or specialize within the market. The sustainability practices examined suggest a range of engagement levels between the service providers, with some firms integrating advanced sustainability strategies that could serve as benchmarks for the commissioning company.
Overall, this thesis provides a surface-level market analysis that can support decision making for companies involved in financial service outsourcing. It offers insights into how these companies can adapt their business models and practices to enhance competitiveness and sustainability.
