Abstract
The study was commissioned by Biopallo Oy. This study was done with the goal of creating a Life-Cycle Assessment about two varieties of seedbed. The study was done for a reed based and peat based seedbed. With the results of this study Biopallo was hoping to get more insight into the impact of the seedbed over a period of 100 years. This study was important to Biopallo as potential customers have shown interest in the Bioball reactor, but they require a LCA from Bi-opallo.
This study was done according to the ISO 14044 norm, the norm describes how a LCA study should be exe-cuted.
The results of this study suggest that the reed based seedbed has a lower impact on the impact category climate change. The results of this study showed that the impact on the soil emission after harvesting the material is the main advantage of reed. With these results Biopallo might be able qualify to enrol into the carbon market as a supplier.
