Tiivistelmä
The aim of this thesis is to compare the differences between the education of nautical officers/maritime officers on the level of universities of applied sciences in both Finland as in the Netherlands.
This thesis is based on literature studies and will assess the build-up and number of hours spent on the different subjects in the course curriculum, with an emphasis on the nautical courses of both the programs.
When comparing the maritime officer education with maritime institute Willem Barentsz towards the master mariner education with Novia UAS the result shows that there are differences. These differences are within the number of Nautical studies, the overall length of the education and the certificates of competency, so called tickets, obtained during the studying.
