Tiivistelmä
In Kaarina, Southwest Finland, there is a traditional, twostorey wooden house. The ceiling spaces of the house have been a roost of a maternity colony of the northern bat for at least the last 30 years. The bat house is located in the centre of Kaarina, in an area that is intended, according to the confirmed town plan for the southern sector of the centre, for the construction of blocks of flats.
This study looked at the activity patterns of the northern bat (Eptesicus nilssonii) and whether the threats caused by construction could be reduced.
