Tiivistelmä
Onboarding is a critical juncture in the employment journey, laying the foundation for a positive work experience and long-term relationship between the employee and employer. Despite potential financial demands on the company, committing to retaining employees underscores the importance of this process.
An effective onboarding plan is essential for continual improvement in an ever-changing work environment. Personal experiences lacking structured onboarding have emphasised the importance of connection and emotional engagement between the company and employees, as emphasised by Davila and Pina-Ramirez. The theoretical framework of this thesis focuses on the differences between onboarding and orientation, as well as Bauer's Four C’s of onboarding.
This thesis focuses on Noli Studios Finland Oy, a hospitality company specialising in long-term stays and offering short-term stays. With a growing workforce, mainly Assistant Host Managers, the company's expansion necessitates an optimised onboarding process. The research aims to analyse and improve the onboarding process for Noli's Assistant Host Managers, emphasising qualitative data from exit onboarding interviews.
The Noli Studios' interest in enhancing the onboarding period aligns with the broader objectives of corporate social responsibility. The research's primary focus is to explore and improve the orientation and onboarding processes for Assistant Host Managers.
The thesis uses qualitative desk research methodology on exit onboarding interviews with Assistant Host Managers of Noli Studios. The deliberate focus on this cohort, comprising the most significant and rapidly expanding group, allows for a comprehensive examination of their onboarding experiences. Approximately 20 new Assistant Host Managers recruited in 2022-2023 highlight the relevance and applicability of the research.
The central research question revolves around enhancing the onboarding procedure for Noli As-sistant Host Managers. Subsidiary inquiries delve into the status of the onboarding process and areas requiring development. This research is integral in contributing insights and recommendations for the improvement of onboarding practices within Noli Studios.
