Tiivistelmä
The subject of this thesis is a board game development process for the rehabilitation of people with brain dysfunction. The board game’s emphasis is on improving memory and focusing abilities. The research focuses on the best way to assist people in retaining mental wellbeing and safety, through the use of a board game and on how games help in brain development.
The game’s development section of the thesis goes over the definition of board games, construction of a game’s mechanics and the rule of development. Through the process it is documented how the game characteristics are changing and adjusted as a result of prototyping.
In the process section the prototyping methods that have been used, are documented and the modifications on every prototype version including utilities of testing are described.
Therefore the objective of this project was to create a functional board game, based on a research background and intended to help people with memory and mental issues.
