The objective of this functional thesis was the creation of a comprehensive security training manual tailored for temporary security personnel employed at the Didrichsen Art Museum. The training manual’s primary purpose was to expedite the familiarization of security staff with work responsibilities, security operations, protocols, and employment expectations. The development of standardized training materials aimed to ensure consistency in training, reduce errors, and elevate the effectiveness of security personnel. This process relied on employing diverse methodologies, such as risk assessments, security document evaluations, interviews with key stakeholders, extensive comparative research, data triangulation, and thematic development.
The central challenge addressed by this study pertained to the incomplete understanding of security protocols and job responsibilities exhibited by museum security staff. This limitation translated into a lack of familiarity with security systems, divergent perspectives on security protocols, and inadequacies in responding to security situations. In response to these issues, a process-oriented security training manual was developed, intending to serve as a comprehensive reference and training guide.
The research's overarching aim was to produce a practical manual capable of enhancing the security staff's training and knowledge base. The primary research question revolved around the creation of relevant content that could empower security personnel to fulfill their roles effectively. The synthesizing of information from applicable sources resulted in a customized process-based training manual, designed to improve the security practices of security staff and contribute to the overall security framework of the Didrichsen Art Museum.
