Tiivistelmä
As the complexity of network infrastructure keeps growing nowadays, the infrastructure components monitoring becomes an important part of maintaining services functionality and optimal performance.
This thesis aimed to research monitoring methods based on Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and implement monitoring tools in a test environment. SNMP is a widely used standardized networking protocol that is supported by all leading network equipment vendors, and thus this type of monitoring is a suitable solution for any network size. This research was based on available documentation and previous research related to the topic.
The thesis demonstrates the planning and implementation of a Prometheus monitoring system with Grafana visualization. The result of this thesis is a theory of SNMP monitoring concept as well as an example of an implemented system with an account of the challenges encountered during the process.
