Displaying the soft skills acquired through an ice hockey career for a smoother transition into working life.
The motivation behind the research is a personal goal to help retired hockey players to recognize the relevance and benefits of a hockey career in the con-text of working life. This research aims to highlights five different soft skills which are the most sought one in a recruitment process based on personal findings, and to explain how these soft skills are cultivated throughout a career in this team sport.
The data was gathered through primary and secondary source. Qualitative method was conducted through a semi structured interview. Five former or cur-rent professional hockey players and two human resource recruiters were be-ing questioned to understand both point of views on soft skills. The target was to have a better interpretation of what companies are looking for, therefore, read the potential of an former athlete into a team withing a company.
The finding of this study suggests that the acquisition of softs skills by ice hockey players is being developed through various experiences during their careers, enables the potential value and relevance they can have in the working world.
