The purpose of this paper is to study the key technologies related to video surveillance and face recognition
systems. These systems enable many functions of a smart city and public safety. This thesis employs a literature review to study intelligent video surveillance systems and their relationship to
Internet of Things technology. In addition, it explores practical application scenarios of this technology. The main finding of this paper is that video surveillance can be made more intelligent through IoT technology. This in turn enables faster and more accurate detection of people, vehicles, and potential hazards. On the other
hand, development of intelligent video surveillance technology also brings many challenges, such as potential
information leakages, legal, and privacy issues. Adoption of this technology varies between countries depending
