Tiivistelmä
The following report is a project-based bachelor’s thesis executed for the degree program in In- ternational Business at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Science. The objective of the thesis was to create an Oracle manual for interns in the closing and reporting department of commis- sioning company Uponor OYJ. A process map for closing and reporting was also created to support the main objective of the project. The foremost benefits of this thesis are recognized as a smooth transition and training of the new interns in the department and an increase in work efficiency. The project was implemented using qualitative and empirical methods.
The theoretical framework in this report presents three main topics: financial management, fi- nancial processes, and accounting information systems. These topics serve as the basis for un- derstanding the main outcome of the project.
The project’s outcome was achieved mainly through three project tasks. First being the theoreti- cal framework, project task 2 included qualitative investigation and chats with employees to cre- ate a process map, which was created in Microsoft Visio. Project task 3 consisted of planning the content of the manual using a similar method as in project task 2. A manual was created on Microsoft Word.
The last few project tasks after creating a manual were to present it for feedback and testing, as well as evaluate the project outcome. The project was concluded as a success as it was viewed as useful by employees and current interns of the closing and reporting department. However, the author feels that there is a need for continued attention in the future, where someone from the department should be responsible for updating the manual. The author believes that the product will not only help targeted users but also help her gain deeper knowledge on various topics.
