Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön aiheena oli tutkia projektinhallintajärjestelmä Microsoft Project Onlinen soveltuvuutta haastavien projektien hallinnassa meriteollisuudessa. Opinnäytetyö tehtiin toimeksiantona suomalaiselle meriteollisuuden yritykselle, jonka tavoitteena on tehostaa projektinhallintaa Microsoft Project Onlinen ominaisuuksien avulla.
Opinnäytetyön tutkimusmenetelmänä käytettiin kvalitatiivista tutkimusta. Tutkimus toteutettiin sähköisenä kyselynä toimeksiantajayrityksen projektinhallinnan asiantuntijoille, jotka työskentelevät meriteollisuuden projekteissa. Kyselyssä selvitettiin asiantuntijoiden kokemuksia nykyisistä projektinhallintajärjestelmistä sekä vaatimuksia projektinhallintajärjestelmiin liittyen.
Opinnäytetyön tutkimustuloksista ilmeni, että MS Project Onlinea on mahdollista hyödyntää projektien resurssien ja aikataulujen hallinnassa, mutta se ei ominaisuuksiltaan riitä korvaamaan kaikkia projektinhallintajärjestelmiä.
Opinnäytetyön tutkimustuloksien perusteella todettiin myös, että MS Project Onlinea ei voida suoraan ottaa sellaisenaan käyttöön, vaan se vaatii muutoksia projektinhallinnan toimintatavoissa. The subject of the thesis was to investigate the applicability of the project management system Microsoft Project Online in the management of challenging projects in the Maritime Industry. The thesis was done as an assignment for a Finnish maritime industry company. The goal of the company is to improve the project management efficiency by utilizing features of Microsoft Project Online.
The research method of the thesis was qualitative research, and the research was arranged as an electronic survey for the project management experts of the client company working in maritime industry projects. In the survey, experts' experiences with the current project management systems and the requirements related to the project management systems were investigated.
The research results of the thesis show that MS Project Online can be used in the resource and schedule management of projects, but its features are not sufficient to replace all the current project management systems.
Finally, based on the research results of the thesis, it was concluded that the efficient implementation of MS Project Online would require changes in company’s current project management methods.
