This thesis describes the development of a customer guidance model called OVKV -"Participating, Empowering, Interacting, Coaching" (in Finnish: ”Osallistava, Vahvistava, Kohtaava, Valmentava”) by ViaDia Keski-Uusimaa. ViaDia Keski-Uusimaa is an association which organizes rehabilitative work activities. The thesis responded to the ViaDia’s need to develop the OVKV- model and to hear the rehabilitation work activity -clients' opinions on the effectiveness of the guidance model. The study also examined the OVKV -model from the perspective of psychological safety.
The aim of the study was to find out how ViaDia's OVKV - customer guidance model works in practice from the perspective of rehabilitation work clients and to develop it based on the development needs identified in the study.
Structured interviews were used as research methods, conducted with twenty rehabilitation work activity clients. Participatory observation in the work community was used as a complementary data collection method. Thematic analysis and statistical methods was used for data analysis.
The study revealed that according to rehabilitation work activity clients, guidance based on the OVKV -model works well in the work community and the work community is perceived as psychologically safe. The results also showed that clients' perceptions of themselves, their own skills, and their ability to influence received lower ratings than those given to the work community. Based on the results, the development target was to strengthen clients' self-esteem and enhance their ability to influence.
The outcome of the thesis was the OVKV-model's annual target plan. It consists of the development needs identified in the study and the concrete steps towards them. ViaDia’s supervisors committed to the goal. In addition to the annual target plan, the interviews were established as an annual practice in the ViaDia’s work community.
