Tiivistelmä
The primary objective of this PONT style thesis is to further develop CoCo Cosmos, an innovative design game that fosters co-creation in creative projects among people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. The goal of this project is to create a marketable design game for Vision Factory.
The commissioner of this thesis is a company called Vision Factory. Vision Factory is a micro level, small and medium sized company (SME) founded in 2017. Vision Factory provides services related to service innovation, co-creation and design thinking, and is driven by a passion to support its customers to achieve their goals of being more customer-centric, co-creative, and innovative.
To achieve the goals, the aim of the new version of CoCo Cosmos is to have a design game that is even more engaging and co-creative than the previous versions were, incorporating gamification and co-creation techniques to encourage participation and innovation. The theoretical foundation for this project will be based on the exploration of design games, gamification, service design, co-creation and development work.
The development process of this thesis is following the UK Design Council Double Diamond model (2015). The model includes four phases which are called discover, define, develop, and deliver. The main research methods used during this project were observation during the testing phase and collaborative methods such as workshops where the design game was co-created together with end-users.
Overall, the development process was a success, resulting in a new version of the design game named CoCo Co-Creation tool. The new version of the design game is expected to be released in autumn 2023, and the actors of Vision Factory see CoCo Co-Creation tool as a very promising and valuable product for their business activities.
