This thesis focuses on examining the franchise business model from the franchisor’s perspective. The main focus will be on the business model’s risks and advantages, as well as the components of a franchise agreement. The author wants to understand franchising because it could be chosen as her company’s expansion strategy.
In simple, franchising is a method for distributing products and services. It is a contractual cooperation between the brand owner and the local operator. Franchising offers a quick and cost-effective way to expand the business to several areas. Although the business model can be used in almost every industry, entrepreneurs must analyze carefully if franchising is the best expansion strategy for their company. The popularity of franchising has grown rapidly in Finland, and today 250-300 franchising chains are operating here.
Information about franchising was collected from online and book sources, as well as from a franchisor. The research utilized the qualitative method. This thesis’s objectives were achieved through theory and interview. This study can be beneficial for entrepreneurs who considers the franchise business model for their company.
