The aim is to find out if there is a correlation between bullying and children's relationships within the daycare environment. With children's relationships, we have focused on dividing them into children's relationships between each other, children's relationships with staff at a day care and children's relationships between siblings. The work also addresses how the staff themselves view bullying and children's relationships within the business.
The main questions at issue: What could possibly lead to bullying in early childhood education? What do children's relationships look like? Is there a correlation between a child being late in their social and emotional development and subsequently being bullied? How can one effectively work to support these children?
In our work we deal with bullying and describe what forms of bullying exist. We describe the differences between the bully and the bully victim's behavior patterns. This work also addresses the consequences of bullying, how to work bullying prevention, and laws and regulations relating to bullying. Furthermore, attachment, resilience and relationships are addressed. Our inquiry about bullying is dealt with at the end of our work.
The survey for the work was done using qualitative interviews with six respondents. The respondents were all teachers in the field of early childhood education or Bachelors of Social Services in early childhood education. The result showed that the majority of the staff can confirm that bullying occurs in early childhood education. We can also note that several respondents agreed that there is a link between children with deficient social and emotional skills and children being bullied, but there were also respondents who had different opinions.
