Palliativ vård är något som behovet av ökar varje dag då åldern hos befolkningen bara stiger, med en högre ålder behövs mera palliativ vård. Palliativ vård är vården i livets slutskede, där man försöker göra den sista tiden i livet så bra som möjligt samt minska på patientens lidande. Cancer är en folksjukdom i Finland som drabbar en av tre personer någon gång under sin livstid många blir friska från sin sjukdom men i vissa fall blir sjukdomen kronisk och går ej längre att bota då inleds palliativ vård. Palliativ vård kan pågå under en längre tid. De allra sista veckorna, dagarna och timmarna kallas för terminal vård.
Syftet med denna studie var att se hur man kan vårda den äldre cancerpatienten som är i palliativ vård och hur man kan öka på livskvaliteten för dem. Skribenten använde sig av scoping review som metod. Studien genomfördes genom att skribenten läste, analyserade vetenskapliga artiklar och vårdrekommendationer som skapade ett resultat.
Resultatet av studien är att de äldre patienterna ej får en likgiltig vård jämfört med de yngre patienterna i palliativa vården. Detta är något som skulle behöva förändras. Fokuset i den palliativa vården är att hjälpa patienten med de spirituella, sociala, psykiska och det fysiska välmåendet. Palliative care is something that the need for increases every day as age only increases, with older age more palliative care is needed. Palliative care is care at the end of life, where you try to make the last period of life as good as possible and reduce the patient´s suffering. Cancer is a common disease in Finland that affects one out of three of all people during their lifetime but many recover from their disease, but in some cases the disease becomes chronic and can no longer be cured this is when palliative care is introduced to the patient. Palliative care can last for a longer period of time. The very last weeks, days and hours are called terminal care.
The purpose of this study was to see how to care for the elderly cancer patient who is in palliative care in order to increase the quality of life. The writer used scoping review as the method. The study was conducted by the writer reading, analysing scientific articles and care recommendations that lastly created a result.
The result of the study was that older patients did not receive indifferent care compared to the younger patients in palliative care. The focus of palliative care was to help the patient with spiritual, social, psychological, and physical well-being.
