The aim of the work was to examine what ethical dilemmas there are around contraceptive advice in order for several carers to read about them and have the opportunity to prepare if they work with contraception.
The work has been done through a systematic literature study of seven different scientific papers. All articles are of quality design and found from the databases EBSCO Cinahl Complete, MEDLINE and Academic Search Elite. The articles have been read through systematically and quality reviewed. Dorothea Orem's theory of self-care is used as a theoretical starting point in the work.
The result of ethical dilemmas surrounding the contraceptive advice presented is in current text. The main result shows that ethical dilemmas occur partly around women with disabilities who are unable to make their choices themselves and when language skills and communication do not really work between care workers and the client. Even for cultural reasons where contraception is linked with marriage infidelity as well as when caregivers suffer from inadequate information and the women seeking contraceptive counseling do not receive the information they would need.
