Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this research-based thesis was to research locations that the commissioning company is utilising, to develop their business model, and provide recommendations based on the research results. The client has a product connected to the business model, which was a crucial part of the research because the product-specific data was analysed.
As the objective for the research, the author explored customer behaviour, which is the usage data of the product in the domestic locations it is installed. The usage data sought to provide more understanding for the commissioning company according to the business model of interest.
The research was conducted by a development of research questions, constructing a theoretical background, and planning and executing the empirical research phase. A mixed method research was the most suitable design because it provided both numerical and verbal data, which were then combined. Primary data was collected with semi-structured interviews which was then analysed using a thematic analysis method. Quantitative data was secondary and it was analysed by statistical analysis methods.
Generally, the research identified contributing factors to the performance of the business model. The results are in the scope of customer behaviour, and they were used for generating suggestions for the commissioning company by the author. The results are important and applicable by the client.
