This thesis analyzes the challenges and opportunities of remote onboarding through Salesforce’s remote onboarding process. It provides insights into onboarding experiences and areas for improvement using data from employee interviews and the Four C’s model developed by Thalya Bauer as a theoretical framework.
The data for this study was gained through a qualitative research approach, utilizing individual and group interviews with current Salesforce employees. The responses were recorded anonymously and used to evaluate the current onboarding process from the perspective of those who have experienced it. To ensure the validity of the findings, a purposive sampling method was used to select participants that had gone through the remote onboarding process.
The results of the interviews were analyzed by reflecting theories about onboarding and integration of new hires. The goal of this research was to understand what makes an effective onboarding process and to identify areas for improvement as Salesforce continues to grow and operate in a remote-first manner. The findings highlight the importance of considering employee experience and regularly adjusting the onboarding process.
The findings of this study provide several recommendations for Salesforce to enhance the effectiveness of their onboarding process, including reordering the sequence of the programs and reducing the size of onboarding groups.
