Tiivistelmä
Digital healthcare is a quite new, fast growing form of healthcare. It can be a very effective way for a patient to receive treatment fast, and an easy way for healthcare professionals to deliver health care, without having to meet with the patient. Obviously, everything is not treatable remotely, and in some cases the healthcare professional might ask the patient to visit a clinic anyway. The aim of this study is to identify and find solutions for the ethical dilemmas that leaders are facing when introducing digital healthcare solutions.
1. What kind of ethical dilemmas do leaders face when introducing digital healthcare solutions?
2. What kind of solutions have been discussed for these dilemmas?
The theoretical framework for this study is based on value-based leadership, economics versus values, and ethical dilemmas. There are several ethical dilemmas that leaders need to face when introducing digital solutions in healthcare. The study succeeded in both research questions. However, every dilemma and solution was probably not mentioned in this study, and with the rapid development of digital healthcare, new problems will arise. Future studies on the topic could be done on the economic effects of digitalization. More studies on quality control would also be interesting. Digital healthcare is here to stay, and it is a big part of the future in healthcare. It is evolving at a rapid pace and more countries; hospital districts and companies are introducing digital tools. There are many positive things in digitalization, but there are also concerns that still need to be addressed. However, the positive impact of digitalization still seems to exceed the negative impacts. There are solutions to most of the ethical dilemmas that leaders face when introducing digital solutions. When time passes, people will also get more used to the digitalization. It will become the new normal.
