Tiivistelmä
The main goal of this research was to study the potential of the UAE market for a Finnish travel and tourism company. Another goal was to generate data to construct and provide customized holiday packages for the target market. The goal was to reinforce the potentiality of the target market for Finnish tourism. The main re-search question was to explore what might motivate UAE residents to choose Finland as a holiday destination. Further questions that the thesis aimed to investigate included the following: how UAE residents arrange their holiday trips, and what travel packages they prefer in terms of tourism products and services.
The thesis incorporates two main parts. The theory section discusses theories related to customer behavior and psychology in tourism, travel incentives in the history and modern world, the advantages of using travel agents to arrange holiday trips, as well as an overview of tourism products and services. The first part also includes an introduction of the methods applied in the study. The second part of the thesis includes empirical data that was collected with a questionnaire and analysed quantitatively.
The results of this research show that most questionnaire respondents are familiar with Finland as a holiday destination. The results indicate the respondents’ willingness to select Finland on their next holiday. Additionally, the client company can start to offer tailor-made holiday packages according to the target market's needs and preferences.
