The research that has been used is focused on the nurse’s ability to promote wound healing and the infection control. The reason behind selecting this topic was to perceive, understand the problems and difficulties in wound care. Which was specially, connected with the medical attendants and patients experience in tainted injury care. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the role of the nurses involved in surgical wound care with elderly patient. The aim of this thesis is to provide information on how nurses can promote wound healing in the elderly and what methods nurses use to control infections. Which includes wound-assessing techniques, lab test physiological tests, following guidelines, prevention of surgical site infection and providing adequate amount of nutrition after operation.
Narrative Literature review was used in this research study. The data was extracted from the school library database and online resources those are Cinahl, PubMed, and SAGE. This research question was based on surgical wound infection in elderly and the interventions that nurses use to control infection.
In the result, this thesis research has been shown that nurse's knowledge about patient’s health conditions, age, importance of nutrition in wound healing, surgical site infection and the ability to follow the guidelines plays the importance role in infection control and improves the healing process.
