Tiivistelmä
One of the competitive assets of a company is its ability to solve various problems, but, on the other hand, it can also be a weakness of the company. The ability to solve problems can turn into one of the company's business activities and, accordingly, the inability to solve problems can be an obstacle to the success of even a good product in the market. In high-tech companies, focusing on problem-solving is a significant part of product lifecycle management.
In general, the case company's products have a life cycle of more than 25 years, and, from this point of view, the product design needs to take into account the factors that have an impact on the life cycle of the product. Technical solutions and material choices are essentially matters that are related to compliance, but the service concept designed around the product is generally customer-specific and may change many times over the life of the product.
As part of product validation and product lifecycle management, various types of field testing are carried out to ensure the functioning of a component, device, or system under actual operating conditions. Field testing is the internal order and fulfilment process (OFP) of the case company, in which the originator of a field test determines the field testing needs and, correspondingly, Technical Services provides field testing implementation according to the originator’s specification. The different process steps and functions specified in field testing and the various formal documents resulting from them correspond to the practical implementation set for field testing. The field testing process is very straightforward in terms of practical implementation, where the previous process phase and the functions specified in it provide input to the next stage of the process.
