Tiivistelmä
A lot of changes are taking place in the social and healthcare sector. Systems are constantly being developed and modified to be more efficient, and efforts are being made to reduce costs. Finnish society is changing rapidly evolving technology and digitalization.
The aim of this Master thesis is to study the pros and cons of digitalization in healthcare and what should leaders and organizations invest in, to improve the well-being of the nurses, during this digital transformation?
A content analysis was carried out on databases such as PubMed, Cinahl, Medic and Julkari. From 24 initial titles, 14 studies were selected, following the inclusion criteria.
As digitalization increases, it is good for management to ensure the successful implementation of e.g., planning, telling staff about e-services in a timely manner and investing in orientation. Management should provide personal guidance on how to use the services, if necessary. It is also a good idea to have IT local support on site, especially in the beginning.
In the future it is important that management ensures that the staff have real-time information available and that employees are aware of data protection and security requirements. The competence and development of the staff is also a matter for the management to take care of.
Well working systems also improve the quality of work. Healthcare professionals also feel that information systems improve the continuity and quality of care and promote patient safety. Studies show that there is still room for improvement in the functionality of the systems.
Functional information systems increase the well-being of staff, and the well-being of the employees is one of the most important responsibilities leaders and organizations have.
