The goal of this thesis was to create a mobile application that could take or import a picture, then it could classify and translate to Finnish the name of the object in the image. The thesis covered the introduction of fundamental
theories, the implementation, and the description of the application.
This application could help foreigners easily recognize and translate the name of an object when they have a picture. Moreover, with this application, foreigners would not be confused about different results on the internet, and
they could study Finnish anytime from surrounding objects.
The mobile application was created by using React Native to take a picture or import an image from the phone. Then TensorFlow-models library was used to detect the object in the pictures and show the name in Finnish could be handled by Google translate API.
