Tiivistelmä
This thesis is a product-based thesis for Haaga-Helia Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism and Experience Management. The objective is to develop a feasible business plan for PRKL Hostel & Live, the author’s own business idea, to ultimately use it as an instrument for founding the company and launching her career.
The thesis is divided into five separate chapters, with introduction being the first one. The theoritical framework, in the second chapter, is intended to fond the base for the development of the business idea, and it includes the studying of the most recent microtrends of hospitality, in particular on the topics of boutique hotels, hostels, and music tourism. Moreover, the literature review in the third chapter contains research about Finnish metal music as a product and music tourism in Finland. The fourth chapter of the thesis introduces the model of business plan chosen by the author and the application of such model into the market analysis for the company. As an aid to writing the business plan, the author also utilized the Business Model Canva and Value Proposition Canva as tools. The fifth chapter illustrates the planning and methodology for this work, including timeline and risks.
The thesis process started in January 2021 and ended in May 2022. During the course of the work, the author encountered difficulty in acquiring founded sources for the theoretical framework and detailed information about the competing companies and costs. The final product, the business plan for the company, is a 41-pages document which includes prospects on all the main aspects for a new company entering the market, including tables of analysis and financial calculations. Some figures are missing because of the lack of information, but the document can easily be modified and updated in the future.
