Tutkimus toteutettiin kvalitatiivisena eli laadullisena tutkimuksena. Tutkimusmateriaali kerättiin alkuvuodesta 2022 yksilöhaastatteluina pääosin etäpalvelu Zoomin kautta. Tutkimukseen osallistui yhteensä yhdeksän haastateltavaa, joista kaksi vastasi haastattelukysymyksiin sähköpostitse. Tutkimustulosten analysoinnissa käytettiin induktiivista sisällönanalyysiä.
Tutkimustulosten perusteella haastateltavat jakautuivat kahteen ryhmään kokemustensa perusteella. The goal of this bachelor´s thesis was to describe the need of support at maternity
clinic during a new pregnancy for those who have experienced a miscarriage. The purpose of this study was to find out how mothers who have experienced a miscarriage feel that their previous miscarriage has been taken into account in the follow-up of a new pregnancy at the maternity clinic, what kind of support the mothers have received at the maternity clinic concerning the previous miscarriage
and what their wishes are for the professionals working at the maternity clinic and what they would like the encounter to be like.
The key concepts were defined in the theoretical part, which were the course of
the pregnancy, prenatal care, miscarriage, mental well-being, and the need for support. This study is qualitative. The study was carried out as a focused interview using a video conference tool in the beginning of the year 2022. A total of nine interviewees participated in the study, two of whom answered the interview questions by e-mail. Inductive content analysis was used in analyzing the data.
Based on the results of the study, the respondents could be divided into two
groups based on their experiences. Some of the respondents experienced that they had had a good and empathic encounter, and that they had also received useful support in the follow-up of their new pregnancy. Others felt that their loss had not been taken into account in the follow-up of the new pregnancy and that they felt that they had been left alone and without support. The results of the study highlight the respondents’ wishes for additional follow-ups and need for discussion support. The respondents hoped for an empathic encounter and that they
would be heard.
