Tiivistelmä
Aiemmin vähäisellä käytöllä ollut ruoan verkkokauppa kasvoi poikkeustilanteen myötä enemmän kuin odotettiin. Aihe kiinnosti sen ajankohtaisuuden takia. Tavoitteena oli selvittää mikä oli ruoan verkkokaupan nykytilanne, sen tulevaisuudennäkymät ja miten vallitseva poikkeustilanne vaikutti ruoan verkkokauppaan.
Ruoan verkkokaupan tilannetta kartoitettiin kirjallisuuskatsauksella, jonka aineisto koostettiin erilaisista ja eritasoisista uutisista, artikkeleista, opinnäytetöistä sekä case-tutkimuksista. Poikkeustilanteen myötä ruoan verkkokauppa kehittyi nopeammalla tahdilla kuin oli suunniteltu ja palvelua laajennettiin reippaasti suunniteltua enemmän. Poikkeustilanne vaikutti myös uusien toimijoiden sekä ulkomaisten kilpailijoiden saapumiseen Suomen markkinoille. Koska ruoan verkkokauppa kehittyi nopealla aikataululla lyhyen ajan sisään, se vaikutti myös alan tulevaisuudennäkymiin. Osa aiemmista tulevaisuudennäkymistä saavutettiin jo poikkeustilanteen aikana.
Vaikka tulevaisuus näyttää edelleen, että ruoan verkkokaupan käyttö kasvaa, niin kukaan ei osaa sanoa mille tasolle sen käyttäminen lopulta nousee. Aika kertoo myös kuinka pysyviä tehdyt muutokset ovat. Previously lesser-used online grocery shopping in Finland grew more than what was expected due to the exceptional situation of Covid-19. The topic was chosen for its topicality. The aim was to find what was the current state of online grocery shopping in Finland, its prospects and how did the exceptional situation affect the online grocery shopping in Finland.
The current state of online grocery shopping in Finland was surveyed with a literature review, which was compiled from different varieties of news, articles and thesis as well as case studies. As a result of the exceptional situation, online grocery shopping in Finland developed at a faster pace than was planned and the service was rapidly expanded more than was planned. The exceptional situation also affected the entry of new players and foreign competitors into the Finnish market. As the online grocery shopping business developed on a fast schedule within a short period of time, it also affected the prospects of the industry. Some of the past prospects were already achieved during the exceptional situation.
While research still shows that the use of online grocery shopping is growing, no one can say for sure to what level its use will eventually rise. It remains to be seen how permanent the changes made during the exceptional situation are.
