Tiivistelmä
Described in this thesis is the deployment and configuration of a highly customizable on- premise (private) cloud infrastructure, Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud (UEC). UEC is an enterprise private cloud platform built on Eucalyptus, an open source enterprise cloud application. The thesis is in two parts, with the first part discussing the theoretical baseline of Cloud computing such as definitions and platforms while the second part explains in details the required implementation steps.
The research study covers Cloud computing: characteristics, models, architecture, risks and benefits and platforms with focus on Eucalyptus.
The scope of the thesis was the implementation of an on-premise cloud service on Ubuntu server 10.04.
