Tiivistelmä
Onnistunut yhteistyö luo kahdelle toimijalle yhteisen hyödyn, jota kumpikaan ei saisi yksinään. Yritysten
Urheiluseurojen välinen yhteistyö on kuitenkin Suomessa harvinaista.
Tutkimuksen tavoite saavutettiin osittain. Esille nousseiden ongelmien ja kysymysten pohjalta saatiin
laadittua kehitysehdotuksia, jotka auttavat ratkaisemaan havaitut ongelmat yritysten välisessä
talousyhteistyössä. Seurojen kannattaa tutustua omiin ja toistensa tarpeisiin ja etsiä molempia hyödyttäviä
ratkaisuja. Tietyt kysymykset edellyttävät lisää tutkimusta. Seuroille kehotetaan tutustumaan omien
vahvuuksien ulkopuolelle etsimään yhteistyömahdollisuuksia. Kun seurat tutustuvat toisiinsa,
yhteistyömahdollisuuksien määrä kasvaa. Seurojen pitää voida kehittää itselleen enemmän aikaa, jotta
seurat voisivat tutustua omien piiriensä ulkopuolelle ja näin löytää toimintaa kehittäviä resursseja. Successful business cooperation results in two entities reaching something amazing that they couldn’t have
been able to get just by themselves. Cooperation among corporations is not unheard of and business
cooperation is a popular method to have a relationship amidst enterprises. Yet cooperation in the Finnish
sport industry is quite rare. Sport organizations have existed for a long time but cooperation between sport
organizations hasn’t done the same. The purpose for this research is to investigate the possibilities of
different forms of business cooperation between two different sports clubs and to find out why these
organizations haven’t been able to recognize the potential in business cooperation between the two, both
located in the Finnish region of Birkaland. In addition to this, study also conducted the reasons why the
sports clubs in this research are not yet cooperating. Aim is to report for the organization who ordered this
research what forms of cooperation would suit them best with this particular sports organization the study is
done with.
Theoretical framework from this thesis consists of research methods, stakeholders in sports business,
business cooperation in sports business and other forms of cooperation in sports. This thesis is done with
multi-case study with qualitative research method. Data collection methods used in this study were semi structured interviews and thematic analyses. International studies and articles related to subject were also
used.
The study showed us that while sports organizations would like to cooperate between each other the biggest
challenge is that sport organizations don’t know how to cooperate between each other. Sports clubs had very
little knowledge about the other club. Main reasons for the lack of knowledge was extremely limited time the
employees had, heavily focusing on their specialization and being stuck in within the inner circle.
The aim of the study was achieved well enough. Study was able to produce development proposals for the
case-companies in this research based on the research problem and research questions. These solutions
manage to provide needed information to help resolve the problems faced in business cooperation with
sports clubs. Some subjects require more research. Clubs should address their own and other team’s needs
properly and look for a solution benefiting both sides. Clubs are enforced to go out of their comfort zone to
search for opportunities for cooperation. The amount of possible cooperative opportunities increases as clubs
get better known to each other. Organizations must find a way to face the challenge which is limited time for
them to be able to venture out of their comfort zone and discover resources that improve team’s operation
