Tiivistelmä
Objects of this thesis was to build a wide theoretical base about communication, technical communication, barriers in communication and approaches that can be utilized to improve communication and with this information analyze technical communication around product called Tekomar Xpert. Case based approach was selected to ensure good connection between theory and practice and to mitigate to foreseen problems with limiting the topic. Communication itself is a wide topic and it was known from the very beginning that being able to build a working entirety was going to be a challenge.
Approach for the research was selected to be first qualitative to be able to harvest enough information from the organization about status of communication and from the things that could be improved or completely developed as new processes or tools. For following up the outcomes from the project, qualitative approach was investigated and developed to be better able to turn the development into the numbers to be able to justify the resources. Quantitative follow-up tool was also seen as necessary to ensure the continuity of the project with reasonable investments in resources.
Results were as expected, wide theoretical base that provides good base for this and further research around technical communication. A good understanding about how communication works and how personnel feel about communication within the framework. Lot of ideas and project leads for further development and research.
Conclusion was that general level of communication is good and only minor but multiple elements where clear improvement are possible or needed were pointed. Layers that are working well or only would be a subject for minor adjustments were also identified and there was a high recommendation to pay attention and resources on maintaining these.
