Anna mulle ääni! Käsikirjoittaja ja podcast-draama nuorisotyössä

Abstract

Tämä kulttuurituotannon opinnäytetyö on laadullinen kehittämistyö Wolfram Entertainment Oy:lle. Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää, voiko käsikirjoittaja tarjota nuorisotyönkentässä uutta näkökulmaa sen toimintaan podcast-draaman ja sen toteuteuksen kautta. Opinnäytetyön lähtöolettamuksesa oli, että käsikirjoittajalla on osaamista, jota voidaan hydyntää nuorisotyössä ja, että podcast-draama soveltuu nuorisotyön käyttöön niin kuin moni muukin taiteen osa-alue. Opinnäytteen taustalla oli Covid-19-pandemian aiheuttamat muutoksen yhteiskunnassa: Samaan aikaan kun nuorisotoimi paini nuorten syrjäytymisen ja eristäytyneisyyden ongelmien kanssa, käsikirjoittajat eivät työllistyneet. Tämän kehittämistyön tavoitteena oli lisätä käsikirjoittajien mahdollisuuksia työllistyä nuorisotyössä sekä luoda toimiva ja heti jalkautettava ohje podcast-draamatyöpajoista nuorisotyössä.

Tutkimuksen teoriaosuudessa esitettiin kirjallisuuteen vedoten nuorisotyön tarpeet sekä käsikirjoittajien työllistymisen haasteet, podcast- tuotannon perusteet, podcast-draaman sekä sen mahdollisuudet nuorisotyön kentässä. Opinnäytteen tutkimus oli laadullinen työelämän kehittämiseen tähtäävä tutkimus. Tutkimukseni kohdetta lähestyttiin kokeilukulttuurin, konstruktiivisen tutkimuksen ja tapaustutkimuksen kautta. Toimenpiteinä olivat kokeilu, teemahaastattelu ja havainnointi. Opinnäytteen tutkimuksen toiminnallisessa osassa toteutettiin kokeilu nuorille suunnatuista podcast- draamatyöpajoista tarvittavan tutkimusaiseiston saamiseksi. Nuorten kokemuksia työpajoista kartoitettiin työpajojen yhteydessä ryhmähaastatteluilla ja havainnoimalla. Tietopohjaa aiheesta syvennettiin teemahaastatteluna suoritetuilla asinatuntijahaastatteluilla. Haastetteluissa haastateltiin nuorisotyön ammattilaista sekä koulupsykologia.

Kokeilujen ja haastatteluista saatujen tulosten perusteella todettiin, että podcast- draaman tekotapaa voidaan onnistuneesti hyödyntää nuorisotyössä. Podcast-draaman avulla voitiin antaa ääni omille kokemuksille, kirjalliset harjoitteet antoivat sanat tunteille ja draama auttoi vaikeiden aiheiden käsittelyssä. Opinnäyte osoitti, että käsikirjoittaja on kirjallisuuden ammattilaien, jonka osaamista voidaan käyttää nuorisotyössä ja soveltavan taiteen menetelmissä. Podcast-draaman luomien mahdollisuukiesn kautta voitiin käsitellä vaikeitakin tapahtumia ja peitettyjä tunteita. Opinnäytteen tuotoksena valmistettiin Wolfram Entertainment Oy:lle ohje podcast-draama työpajojen toteuttamiseen.

This thesis in Cultural Management is a qualitative development work for Wolfram Entertainment Oy. The purpose of this thesis was to find out whether a screenwriter can offer a new perspective on its activities in the field of youth work through podcast drama and its implementation. The initial assumption of the thesis was that the screenwriter has skills that can be utilized in youth work and that podcast drama was suitable for use in youth work like many other areas of art. The thesis was based on the change in society caused by the Covid-19 pandemic: At the same time as youth work was struggling with the problems of exclusion and isolation of young people, screenwriters were not employed. The aim of this development work was to increase the opportunities for screenwriters to find employment in youth work and to create a functional and immediately implementable guide to podcast drama workshops in youth work.

The theoretical part of the study presented the needs of youth work and the challenges of screenwriters' employment, the basics of podcast production, podcast drama and its possibilities in the field of youth work. The research of the thesis was a qualitative research aimed at the development of working life. The subject of my research was approached through experimental culture, constructive research, and case study. The measures were an experiment, a thematic interview and an observation. In the functional part of the thesis research, an experiment was carried out in podcast drama workshops for young people in order to obtain the necessary research material. The young people's experiences of the workshops were mapped in connection with the workshops through group interviews and observations. The knowledge base on the topic was deepened through expert interviews conducted as a thematic interview. In the interviews, a youth work professional and school psychology were interviewed.

Based on the results of experiments and interviews, it was concluded that the podcast drama method can be successfully utilized in youth work. Podcast drama provided a voice for one’s own experiences, written exercises gave words to emotions, and the drama to helped with difficult topics. The thesis showed that screenwriter is a literary professional whose skills can be used in youth work and applied art methods. Through the opportunity created by the podcast drama, even difficult events and hidden emotions could be addressed. As a result of the thesis, a podcast drama instruction for Wolfram Entertainment Oy was prepared for the implementation of the workshops.
