Tiivistelmä
This thesis seeks to study the potentials of SMEs (Small and Medium
Enterprises) that intend to enter the tourism market of Vietnam, especially in the
tourism accommodation provision sector. The thesis is meant to explore the
success story of Christina’s Vietnam. A start-up that has grown into a key player
in the tourism accommodation provision sector in the country
The study was conducted using various sources. The most notable sources were
from published academic and research materials such as books and market
reports about the same subject matters and from personal interviews with
Christina’s representative Thu Nguyen. Throughout the thesis, different aspects
of the tourism market of Vietnam were introduced and analysed. The thesis
analysed the various accommodation models available, studied their
characteristics and requirements, and from those data, pointed out the most
suitable tourism accommodation models for SMEs to choose from and use as the
starting points for their future business ventures. In addition, the thesis also
considered practical issues of establishing and running an SME tourism
accommodation provider such as the types of customers they should focus on as
well as the mistakes commonly made.
In the end, the thesis serves as an overall comprehensive and inclusive
referential material for all interested parties as well as a source of reflection and
improvement for Christian’s, the case company.
