Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this thesis was to study and apply data center design methods, collecting information for the project, developing the design algorithm, making formulas and creating drawings. During the work, detailed analysis was made such infrastructures as: cooling system, UPS and DGS. Analysis of uptime Institute reliability standards and redundancy methods.
The theoretical part of the thesis described the common concepts of a data center. It explained what a data centers are, their role in the world, what types of data centers exist and their commercial use by companies. Description of the problems which can be occurred when operating a data center by specialists. What types of infrastructure are necessary for uninterrupted and safe operation of equipment in a data center.
The practical part of the thesis is completely described to the design of a data center. Here is shown the whole process from setting the necessary characteristics of the future data center to direct designing and calculating. The project is presented as the design stages of a small server room for the future data center of the Selectel company in Finland. During the project, formulas and drawings were provided with a full explanation of their values, as well as tables with equipment characteristics that are used in this project.
The final result was the ready project of the server room in the data center. The project was developed based on the requirements of Uptime Institute for possibility obtaining their certification. It also provided an example of the future phased development of data center using a modular system of entering the necessary capacity to cover the growing demand of customers.
