Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyö tehtiin Meyer Turku Oy:n rungon valmistussuunnitteluosastolla.
This thesis was completed at Hull Detail Design department of Meyer Turku Oy. The purpose of this thesis was to determine, compile and present the information needed in the transport and marriage operation of the floating engine room units of Icon-class cruise ship and make it a code of conduct. The thesis adresses the stages and details of the operation in a chronological order. The purpose of this thesis was to discuss and present the issues that should be considered in planning and conducting the operation and to find problems and propose solutions. The aim was to evaluate and develop the operation.
The operation consists of several phrases, and the success of each phrase requires careful planning and acquisition of information. The work began by identifying the phases of the operation and the required equipment. Information was acquired through interviews with the shipyard personnel with expertise and experience of conducting similar operations. The thesis investigated earlier operations and problems encountered.
As a result, it was discovered that the operational phrases of the operation present numerous challenges and problems. The problems at the time of the operation may result in injury or damage to the equipment used. The most significant challenges are tight schedule, winter conditions and the safety of the employees. The challenge is increased by simultaneous work phrases that can cause problems with work areas, material transports and for example, lifting of materials.
Altough not all problems could be solved, they are easier to solve if they are detected in time. Solutions were found, for example, to problems related to safety and weather conditions.
