Construction project’s growing complexity has limited the efficiency of project
management practices in achieving the major goals; quality, time and cost. Concerns
arise about the necessity of adopting new techniques within project management as a
solution. Lean principles achievements in the manufacturing industry management have
paved the way for the opportunity of integrating these principles within construction
project management to overcome project complexity challenges.
Studying the major challenges occur during project development and refer them to
project management fields is the foundation of this study, referring different project
challenges to major project management fields will make it possible to analyze the
management processes, therefore, define areas of improvements. On the other hand,
defining the major aspects of lean construction/Six Sigma along with supportive
techniques.
This study aims to define and explain how Integrating lean/Six Sigma principles and
techniques in project management processes can help in overcoming challenges.
This study will rely on researchers’ findings related to project management challenges
and the author’s findings for challenges from two case studies. The findings will be
analyzed and reflected to create the theoretical approach of integrating lean
construction/Six Sigma within project management to overcome challenges.
