The purpose of this thesis is to give a coherent picture on the current economical environment in Hong Kong and China. And to show how significant Hong Kong is as a gateway into market of China. The thesis was commissioned by Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. It will be used to support their marketing services.
In this thesis the primary objective was to examine the business environment in China and Hong Kong and to find an optimal way for a foreign business to enter China. To answer this we studied internationalization, culture, entry methods, and made a PESTEL analysis of both China and Hong Kong.
The conclusion of this research is that Hong Kong still retains its significance as a gateway to Mainland China, albeit it´s role has and will continue to change.
