Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyössä oli tarkoituksena tuottaa tietoa aktiivisena ikääntymisestä Jämsän seutukunnalla. Tavoitteena oli tutkia kyseistä ilmiötä Jyväskylän yliopiston aktiivisena ikääntymisen-mittarin (UJACAS) avulla. Opinnäytetyössä selvitettiin ja kuvattiin ikääntyvien ihmisten halua toimintaan, toimintakykyä, mahdollisuutta ja erilaisten toimintojen useutta ja määrää. Teoreettinen viitekehys perustui aktiivisen ikääntymisen, hyvinvoinnin, osallisuuden ja toimijuuden käsitteisiin sekä ikääntyneiden yksinäisyyteen liittyviin tutkimuksiin. Jyväskylän yliopistossa AGNES-tutkimusryhmä on tutkinut aktiivista ikääntymistä, keskiössä on ollut aktiivisena vanhenemisen tarkastelu iäkkään ihmisen omasta näkökulmasta. Opinnäytetyössä sovellettiin AGNES-työryhmän kehittämää mittaria, UJACAS-haastattelukyselyä; kuinka vastaajien tavoitteet, toimintakyky, autonomia ja aktiivisuus toteutuivat heidän elämässään. Tutkimus toteutettiin Webropol-verkkokyselynä ja paperilomakkeina. Jämsän seutukunnalla kyselytutkimukseen vastasi 152 ikääntyvää henkilöä. Aineisto analysoitiin tilastollisin menetelmin. The purpose of the thesis was to provide information on the active aging of the elderly people in the region of Jämsä. The aim was to study the active aging of the elderly by means of an indicator called the University of Jyväskylä Active Ageing Scale (UJACAS). The thesis explored and described the elderly people’s motivation for an active life, functional ability, opportunity and the frequency and number of different activities. The theoretical framework was based on the concepts of active aging, well-being, participation and operative action of the elderly, as well as studies on the loneliness of elderly people.
At the University of Jyväskylä, the AGNES research team has carried out extensive research on active aging, focusing on active aging from the perspective of the elderly. The thesis used the method developed by the AGNES working group, the UJACAS interview questionnaire: how the objectives, ability, autonomy and activity of the respondents became real in their lives. Research was conducted by using a Webropol online survey and paper forms. In the Jämsä region, 152 elderly people responded to the survey. The data were analysed by using statistical methods.
In conclusion, it can be stated that there was a significant positive correlation between the personally experienced activeness and the well-being of the elderly. Moreover, the correlation remained positive between the goals, functional ability, autonomy and activity. Motivation and the urge for action and activities was connected significantly to the realised activities. Often lonely people considered their well-being and activeness weaker than those who were never, or rarely, lonely.
The results of the thesis will be utilized in the future activities of the Jämsä Memory Associ-ation, and thus, they will promote the active aging and well-being of older people in the Jämsä region.
