As a consequence of the current economic crisis which has affected the industry and the economy in Europe, many companies are compelled to internationalize their businesses in order to survive
.Many firms try to increase their potential through exportations opening new markets .The purpose of this study is to analyze the Spanish clothing industry specifically Valencia region for a feasible entry of Finnish clothing retailers.
Research questions that the thesis has considered include;
1. What characterizes the competition in the Spanish clothing industry?
2. How attractive Valencian Community market is?
To answer these questions, the current status of the Spanish clothing market has been studied. Porter’s five forces model and Swot analysis have been used in this thesis in order to make the industry analysis.
The empirical part has been analyzed through different secondary data focused on the market research and the competitor analysis to answer the main research questions of this project.
Finally , to conclude the potential findings of this thesis proposal have been the status of the Spanish market and specifically the Valencia region market. The entry of Asian products have maked it difficult for new entrants in the market. Also due to the recession and the current situation, the consumer power of Spanish customers is not very high. The rivalry between very powerful competitors and with a high experience in the sector makes complex and strong the competitiveness in the sector both in Spain and in the Valencian region. This thesis proposes new and future research at a level company but always attending the situation of the country and with a focus on innovation.
