This thesis is a project-oriented document. The Costa Blanca Scandinavian School acted as a working life partner. The project was coordinated and approved by the Scandinavian School before the project initiation.
The project aim was to develop a method to get the school children who attend the Costa Blanca Scandinavian School, more familiar with the natural elements that ex-isted in the school facilities and within the vicinity of the establishment. The primary goal for the project was to get the project participants more familiar and friendlier with the school environment. The intention was to do so with the introduction of natural elements in the school environment, with emphasis on existing local plants.
The project duration was two months, and the actual implementation of it was for one week. A significant part of the project duration included planning and develop-ing the project original idea to the partner organization needs and tailoring it for the available schedule. The actual project week involved division of the school children to classes and to introduce them to the natural elements. By the last day of the pro-ject, the classes competed amongst themselves to see who got to know the natural elements best. The winning classes and students who knew all the elements of the project were announced in an all-school ceremony.
The fact that the project took place in Spain, but most of the target group participants were school children with Scandinavian origins, gave the project even more critical to familiarize and introduce the school children to the local environment due to their recent move to the Spain and also gave the project an international aspect. The pro-ject was conducted in three languages: English, Finnish and Swedish.
